NZ South Island Arthurs Pass/Christchurch/KL home
size matters!!
KL airport - Air Asia - what a dump!
leaving KL to fly to Singapore - we went Air Asia, but direct is better!!
more earthquake damage - all so sad
up at the headland and estuary
the sea looks lovely,
most of the stone buildings have been damaged and will have to be pulled down. All the central area is cordoned off by
builders netting as the buildings are so unsafe and there are so many aftershocks
Christchurch Park, cordoned off because of the earthquake
the big boom watering systems
back on the road to Christchurch
rugged rocks and snow capped mountains
a chilly -2c and we are leaving flock Hill after a fun evening and a delicious, hearty meal
we found a fun swing, a lovely horse and lots of cuddly sheep, but it was very cold, in fact it got down to 0c
we arrive at Flock Hill Sheep Station and beautiful autumn colour
a lovely lake, some civilisation
nothing for miles around - who would live here??
a flash of colour - then its gone..
scree, scree and more scree
the Kia birds have a very strong beak and claws and can do some damage
We drove from the West Coast towards the East on Arthurs Pass, the temperature began to drop significantly and the vegetation disappeared, with scree covering the mountain sides
NZ South Island Greymouth to Arthurs Pass 27.4.11

oh well, he is smiling

Doug going through water 'too quickly'!!

looking at the smallest quad - Archie pressed the accelerator and not the break and ended up going down a bank, into the river
luckily he managed to jump free, but the quad ended upside down in the river leaking fuel!

Archie having fun and they have
2 hours away in the bush and forest - a beautiful day, what more could they want

nice hair net Archie!
time for some revision while the boys go off on quadbikes - the only place you could be 12 to do it!
Mirror lakes

Archie and the lovely tree ferns
Hokatiki - lots of shops selling New Zealand jade or Nephrite - more subtle than chinese jade
