The Uglows in Town
what's the view like up there?
Ollie, Archie & Harry standing on the Sky Park - Marina Bay Sands
Lunch at the Polo Club
Ollie and Harry, Lyndsey and Mike came for a whistle stop stay on their way to Australia and NZ.
Archie really enjoyed catching up with Ollie and they all had fun in the pool and exploring Singapore.
The Dragon Kiln and Medicinal plants
We drove past all the cemetaries that are now all around Kranji - Chinese, CofE, Jewish, etc etc - want to go on the cemetary tour, would be fascinating.
These ones are chinese - look like armchairs!

Fact: Dill is very good for getting rid of wind. Hence Gripe Water is used for babies.
Fact: Citronella is very good deterrant for Mosquitoes
Fact: Star fruit is super high in calcium and also has good blood clotting properties - carry one in your bag! think it tastes pretty watery
Fact - if the banana flower points down (and the bananas too) they are edible. If the flower points up then it is ornamental
here are a selection of different bananas!

tiny lady finger bananas

beautiful double hibiscus

Drumstick Tree or Meringo Tree is very high in calcium

Pandan leaves used for the colour green in cakes and cooking and slight flavour.
the leaves are a good deterrant for Cockroaches - should put some in the car, in case of any crumbs lurking.

Kedong Dong plant, the fruit is very bitter and is used for getting stains out - Lime works well too (on clothing)

We then went on to Bollywood Veggies again north of Kranji where we were taken around a garden centre where they grow plants that they use in the restaurant, or that have medicinal uses. We had a delicious lunch afterwards too.

I went up to the Pottery Jungle, north of Kranji, with a group one morning where there is a Dragon Kiln that is fired a couple of times a year. We got to look inside - not commercially viable but nice to see how it was done in the old days.
Lots of lovely pots and ceramics, most of which are imported from China!cre Gripe water for babies is made of dill - love the taste

Fancy Dress and Autumn Colour
looks like Wisteria - must look in my tree book!
Take away coffee/drink in a plastic bag - typical of Hawker takeaway
Beautiful autumn colour and leaves all over the ground
I walk Jet in West Coast Park sometimes and it suddenly felt very autumnal with all the leaves on the ground from one particular tree
Guada and Jet with her Fox waiting for the school bus
The kids had a Book Day at school to raise money for charity. Doug went as Bob Marley, Archie as a Terrorist!! and Corinna as Bagera from the Jungle Book - she looks more like a pussycat.
Relations in town
Frank and Charlie
Corinna, Romilly, Emmanuelle, Archie, Hector and Douglas
Sal and Niall
Sophie
We had a lovely evening with Charlie and Sophie and kids when Sal and Frank came to stay. They got married in the summer and had come via Hong Kong.
We had a fun evening and the kids had fun swimming and cremating Hector's Hamster on a bonfire!
More friends to entertain
Charlie and Alison came via Bangkok and the Orient Express. We went for drinks on the rooftop at One Fullerton Bay Hotel, followed by dinner at Flutes at the Fort, then a highrise view of the city from the SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands Ku de Ta, and then a nightcap at The Fullerton.
Great to see them, they stayed at Raffles and then flew back to the UK - all too quick
Holland Plain and West Coast Park - Flowers and Trees
Lotus Flower - and seed head - once the flower has inished the seed head dried and can be used in flower arrangements. The Lotus has fabulous leaves that hold water droplets
Hibiscus flowers
View of the Port from West Coast Park. Tankers, Tugs, Oil refineries and also the Marina
A Fishing Boat
Pine Tree & Cones
a very misty morning
Sunrise on Holland Plain
Tree Roots!
the pool can't fit anymore rain in!
I'm very wet, but please keep throwing my ball
Holland Plain on a dreary wet morning
Seeds from the ----- tree
beautiful 'bottlebrushes'
Taking Jet for walks in West Coast Park I come across some beautiful trees and shrubs and if I'm lucky they will be in flower - normally very strange shapes and sizes
