Swimming with Dolphins

Mark and Vicki had been wanting to swim with Dolphins for ages, and thought they would have to wait until they went to the US again - but Singapore had some for them - they were pink! They are born grey and slowly change their pigmentation as they get older.

Leaving Singapore for Pulau Ubin

We drove to Changi Village, north East singapore and took a Bum Boat across the water (10 mins) to Pulau Ubin, where we hired bikes and cycled around, past deep quarries full of water, lots of bird and animal life. Crabs in the Mangroves, little snakes on logs, a wild pig.....

After a couple of hours we stopped for some seafood and took the Bum Boat back to reality.

Sinigapore Botanical Gardens now 150 years old

The Botanical Gardens are spectacular and the orchids in the Orchid Garden are too. Its a wonderful space in such a small city, where people get married - they have just had a mass wedding ceremony to celebrate 150 years and over 150 couples got married at once!! They also hold musical evenings.

sightseeing with Mark and Vicki

Visiting China Town where the Sri Mariamman Temple was celebrating Deepavali - everything in the temple had been decorated with beautiful cloth for the festival. Sampling indian food from the market, placed on banana leaves.

Visiting the Chinese Wet Market and seeing the array of colours in vegetables, fruit, meat and seafood - black chickens fascinated Vicki and Mark found an industrial sized blender.

The Chinese Heritage Centre was full of great photos and easy facts and then a complete shophouse depicting how life and living used to be.
We then had lunch in a Tea House, where Mark prepared chinese tea and we had deicious fresh dim sum - yum!

Going to a Tea House for lunch - with the ritual of making chinese tea and eating it with delicioiuis Tim Sum (Dim sum to us).

The 26th Sept - Day after the Grand Prix

Sending the cars off to Japan in containers.

We went off to the Singapore Flyer to get a good view of the city - it took us 2 hours to get there and we ended up walking for over 1 hour - the roads were still closed off to the public! The views of the Grand Prix circuit are pretty amazing from the air. We had seats in the middle top of the yellow block of seats. Within 4 days the city was back to normal, until next year!

2nd Singapore Night Grand Prix with Mark & Vicki 25-27th September 2009

Ear deafeningly exciting, and dramatic as it was night time. Jensen and Lewis within feet of us. So safe and well organised too.
The seats were packed on Sunday
night. Archie is coming with us
next year!

We went for all 3 days, with an amazing atmosphere all around, the Padang had lots of bands, eateries, bars; the views of Singapore not only from our seats overlooking Marina Bay, but all around the course were amazing, as it went along the streets and over bridges.
