Trip to Penang, Malaysia 22-26 January 2011

A Malaysian kampong village house on stilts

A clove tree - cloves before they are dried

A bag of spices - the red is Mace, yellow is Turmeric

Nutmeg

an opened nutmeg - the nutmeg is covered with Mace - the red coating, this is carefully pulled off and dried and sold seperately

Durian - the outside - lucky you that you can't smell it - its the Asian equivalent of stinky blue cheese - you either love it or hate it!

Cocoa pod - this is where chocolate comes from

Fantastic views - its hilly!

Batik fabric - very colourful and intricate - not to everyone's taste

We went to a Batik factory/shack where they showed us the process

A delicious Malaysian Tapas selection on the edge of the beach by the sea
Off to Penang for the Malaysia Managers Meeting, stayed at Battu Ferringi on the north coast

Burns Night Supper, and a Kilt outing, a fun night
